New year, new website! I’m excited for what this year will bring, I’ve got lots of good things in the works I’m eager to share with you. Thanks for stopping by and let’s jump right in to this first post with the highlights of 2014!
1.) I’ve been a fan of Weezer since I heard my older brother playing them in our house when I was in the sixth grade. It started with a Pinkerton obsession that blossomed into a deep love of their entire music catalog as I continued to get older (and cooler) and develop my taste in music.
Jumping ahead, to September of 2014, I happened to see on Weezer’s Facebook page “Looking for female backup singers in NYC for our sold out show at Bowery Ballroom tomorrow night. Email if interested.” It seemed too good to be true. But I thought, what the heck, might as well. So I went ahead and emailed them a video of me singing and expressed my interest (strong need) to participate. And just a few hours later, I had a response waiting for me- Yes! You’re in! I was told I would need to be at the venue early to rehearse with the band before the gig. (what?!?!?) Needless to say, it was a night to remember.
One of my fellow Weezer choir members, Emmy the Great, wrote a hilarious article that summed up the whole experience perfectly, called “Don’t Touch the Rock Stars.” http://noisey.vice.com/en_ca/blog/weezer-live-review-bowery-ballroom-2014
2.) Teaching a Vocal Workshop at my high school in my hometown, Binghamton High School. Even the local news came by to capture the moment! Check it out: http://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/story/d/story/bhs-grad-leads-choral-workshop/33091/Oo2eJKOiv0OiH0N6TNBU3Q
3.) Performing to a SOLD OUT crowd at the Firehouse Stage. Pretty exciting to debut my original songs and perform some favorite covers alongside an all star band. Here’s an interview from the local news: http://www.binghamtonhomepage.com/story/d/story/bhs-grad-to-sing-at-the-goodwill-theatre/66943/LfSnckHFGku-upAyAiBr0w
I also performed with my longtime buddy and musical partner in crime, Adam Rhodes. Check it out:
